Spray tanning is great when you need a tan yesterday for a party tomorrow. One of the compliments that the salon regularly receives is on how thorough our spray tanning explanations are. In order for you to maximize the benefit, listen carefully to the instructions that the salon attendant will provide. We will give you the basics on the phone (some of which is covered below) of what to expect ,what to wear and any other primary concerns you have. Once you get to the salon we will then give you detailed in room step by step instructions, first on the physical operation of the unit (it’s easy don’t worry) how to position yourself and any minor in room preparation details. Secondly after your treatment we will give you all of the aftercare tips required to maximize the results.

People will use spray tanning for a lot of reasons, if you prepare properly the results should be fantastic. Although if you are getting married, getting an important photo shoot done or any other once in a lifetime event, we recommend that you do a trial run about 10-14 days in advance. That way you will have done a practice run which will allow you to see how much color develops, and also be able to time the process so that it is perfect on the big day.

Sometimes people will come to us at the last minute because they are going down south and want to be brown when they arrive. Well hey, it’s going to work, but sunless does not offer any protection against UV light. So please be aware of this. We recommend UV tanning for this purpose. Some people will do a combination UV and spray on the same day! Works great for super fast results. See our equipment page and our tanning FAQ section for more info.

WHAT IS THE VERSA SPA MULTI-PASS SESSION?
The Versa Spa offers you three spa treatments in each spray tan session (our multi-pass session) 
  • Pre-Sunless PH Balancing Treatment: Fortify your skin and enhance its color with a blend of green tea extracts, amino acids, and other professional grade ingredients. Versa Spa’s PH Balancing Treatment instantly balances your skin’s PH levels, increases absorption by dispensing its natural oils, and maximizes hydration before each session.

WILL THE SOLUTION TURN ME ORANGE?
No! In the past, self-tanners gave many individuals an unnatural orange glow and caused streaking. Most of these undesirable results were caused by improper or ineffective application techniques. Applying creams and lotions by hand usually results in excessive amounts being absorbed in the skin. Excessive amounts applied in a single application can give an orange glow to the skin. Unnatural dark spots may also appear in dry or thick skinned areas such as elbows, knees, and knuckles because these areas have a tendency to absorb more of the cream. Hand held spray-on applicators tend to run and cause streaking.  The Versa Spa Pre-Sunless PH balancing treatment is highly recommended for all sessions as it instantly balances your skins PH levels, increasing absorption by dispersing its natural oils, and maximizes your hydration before each session.

WHAT IS IN THE VERSA SPA SOLUTION?
The Versa Spa tanning solution has three components:

1. The bronzer is a water-soluble dye designed to produce an instant tan. The brown bronzer will wash off in the shower or bath but will not affect your overall tan.

2. The DHA produces a long-term tan. When applied to the skin, DHA reacts with proteins in the skin's superficial layer to form a golden brown color. It begins to darken 2 to 3 hours after application and reaches its peak color within 24 hours. The DHA tan will begin to gradually fade through natural exfoliation, just like a tan from the sun. To maintain optimal color, you should tan every 4 to 5 days.

3. DHA, dihydroxyacentone, combined with anti-aging, skin firming ingredients is the main compound that produces a customized bronzed glow. DHA has been an approved cosmetic additive by the FDA for over 30 years. Versa Spa chemists have refined the technology to produce the most outstanding formulation that results in silky smooth, glowing skin with a refreshing after scent.
HAS ANYONE HAD AN ALLERGIC REACTION TO THE INGREDIENTS USED IN THE VERSA SPA SOLUTION?
All of the components of the Versa Spa tanning solution have been used in cosmetics and food products for decades and have proven to be safe for use on the skin. If you have had previous allergic reactions to self tanning lotions or cosmetics you may want to do a "patch test" by putting a small amount of the Versa Spa solution on a small area of the skin to test for possible reactions.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR IN THE VERSA SPA?
Many people do not wear anything. The room is completely private and if you would like to tan in the nude it is perfectly acceptable. However, if you do wear a bathing suit, underwear, or anything else, please be aware that whatever you wear may be stained. The bronzer we use for your initial color is water-soluble and should wash out of anything you wear, but the DHA applied may cause permanent stains on any clothing you may wear inside the booth.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE VERSA SPA MIST GETS IN MY EYES?
There is nothing in the solution that will harm your eyes. ​

DO I NEED TO COVER MY HAIR WHILE TANNING IN THE VERSA SPA BOOTH?
Many consumers wear disposable shower caps (provided by the Salon) to keep the solution from getting in their hair. Other consumers tan without covering their hair. The solution will not penetrate the hair follicles.
AFTER I HAVE COMPLETED A VERSA SPA SESSION, CAN I ALSO TAN IN TANNING BEDS AND IN THE SUN?
Yes. There is nothing in the Versa Spa tanning solution that would prevent you from tanning in tanning beds or the sun. In fact, a number of customers have found that tanning with UV rays and the Versa Spa tanning solution actually gives them a better overall tan. If you do plan to use a tanning bed and the Versa Spa booth in the same day we recommend that you tan in the tanning bed first. Remember however, that the Versa Spa tan does not give you any protection from UV rays.
DO I NEED TO HOLD MY BREATH DURING THE SESSION?
We recommend that you hold your breath during the actual spray process, which lasts 12 to 18 seconds. We make this recommendation because most individuals would prefer not to breathe in the solution, even though there is nothing in it that would cause any harm if you did breathe it in. The Versa Spa also features EZ to breathe purification system which ventilates the versa all access solution out of the booth during your session. If you have a history of asthma or other respiratory illnesses we do not recommend that you tan in the Versa Spa tanning booth until consulting with your physician.
WILL I BE WET WHEN I STEP OUT OF THE VERSA SPA BOOTH?
The Versa Spa booth features comfort dry system during your session. There is no need to towel dry as you will be completely dry after your session.
HOW LONG AFTER THE VERSA SPA SESSION BEFORE I CAN PUT MY CLOTHING BACK ON?
The Versa Spa features comfort dry system so you will be completely dry after your session, so you can put your clothes on right away. If you pursue any strenuous physical activity after your Versa Spa tanning session, perspiration may cause some of the bronzer to transfer to your clothing. Since the bronzer is completely water-soluble it will wash out.
WILL THE COMPONENTS OF THE VERSA SPA SOLUTION MAKE MY SKIN HAVE AN UNPLEASANT SMELL?
Some consumers have commented that they noticed a "light" smell on their skin after their session, but it is usually not noticeable to others around them. The post sunless super hydrating treatment also contains a neutralizer to lower the after smell of the bronzing solution.
HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT AFTER MY VERSA SPA SESSION TO SHOWER?
We recommend that you wait a minimum of 4 hours after tanning to give the DHA enough time to fully set. If you shower earlier, you may diminish the intensity of the tan. When you do shower the initial tan created by the water-soluble bronzer will wash off, but the DHA will remain and create your long term tan.
CAN I GO SWIMMING AFTER A SESSION IN THE VERSA SPA?
You should not swim or shower for a minimum of 4 hours after tanning in the Versa Spa booth. Swimming in chlorinated water at any time can bleach the Versa Spa and possibly cause streaking.
HOW MANY TIMES DO I NEED TO USE THE VERSA SPA TO ACHIEVE THE COLOR I WANT?
You will be tan after one session, but it may take a additional session or two to achieve your desired color. Once you reach the color you desire you should be able to maintain it by tanning every four to five days.
ARE THERE WAYS TO ENHANCE THE VERSA SPA RESULTS?
Using a moisturizer frequently will help the tan last longer. You should not apply any moisturizers or lotions to the skin after tanning until the DHA has had time to set, usually 4 to 6 hours. Certain types of moisturizers or lotions applied during this period could cause streaking of the DHA. Be sure to always use a water base moisturizer. We also always recommend using the Versa Spa multi pass session each time for the best and longest lasting results.
BECAUSE OF MY FAIR SKIN I HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO TAN BEFORE.  WILL THE VERSA SPA GIVE ME A TAN?
Yes. The Versa Spa tanning booth was designed specifically for individuals who can't or don't want to tan conventionally.
